Having regard to the cold weather and considerately increased natural gas consumption in all Balkan region countries, Eastern Europe and the Russian Federation, natural gas supplies during the last day were carried out under very heavy conditions of shortages in quantities to the Balkan region countries leading to the undertaking of measures for the reduction of consumption in all countries from the region. Emergency team involving Bulgartransgaz EAD and Bulgargaz EAD representatives as well was established in the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism to carefully follow the situation and undertake the measures needed for the security of gas supply in the country and the transit of natural gas through our territory. The actual situation and actions undertaken were discussed today at a meeting with the Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. It was reported that no interruption in natural gas transit to neighboring countries took place up-to-date and no forced administrative measures for restricted gas supplies were initiated. All actions required for the safe and reliable operation of the gas transmission and gas distribution systems are undertaken. All local resources to secure the natural gas quantities, including from Chiren Underground Gas Storage and Galata gas field are used to a maximum whereas the available quantity stored at Chiren UGS is sufficient to secure part of the current national consumption for a long period of time.
