The Bulgarian national gas transmission operator is the host company of the Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) Annual Conference in Sofia in June 2016.
The 14th Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) Annual Conference will take place on 09 and 10 June 2016 in Sofia. The event is being organized by the host “Bulgartransgaz”EAD. Since 2003 the GIE Annual conference is the key meeting at European level of the companies related to the gas infrastructure. The event is among the most important ones in the gas industry and traditionally it involves representatives of European and worldwide companies in the industry, as well as members of the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) in Europe, the national regulatory authorities, natural gas associations, NGOs, the media and all other interested parties.
In 2016 the international forum will be held at a time when anticipating the events in the constantly changing gas infrastructure world is more important than ever. Countries hosting the event are selected on a rotary basis, and after Dublin (Gaslink), Berlin (E.ON, ONTRAS, Open Grid Europe, RWE), Venice (SNAM), now Bulgartransgaz is welcoming worldwide gas experts in the capital city Sofia. It is a two-day Conference aiming at providing possibilities for discussion of the most important issues related to the European community agenda concerning the gas industry. Within the Conference the development of the European Energy Union will be discussed and, in particular, the collaboration between the European countries for achieving an effective integral gas market, security of gas supply and competition. The event is an excellent opportunity for creating a contact network and sharing opinions and experience.

GIE was formally established in 2005 and it unifies 67 energy companies from 25 European countries. Since 2007 Bulgartransgaz EAD is a member of the international organization and in 2016 our country will be hosting for the first time the Annual Conference.
