The Bulgarian side follows closely the rapidly changing situation involving the natural gas supplies to Bulgaria and Europe through Ukraine and is ready to take immediate actions to protect the interests of the Bulgarian customers if needed.

To date there is no change in the gas supply regime to Bulgaria and the parameters are within the agreed arrangements.

There are no established technical indications of interruptions or changes in flow characteristics within the information exchange between the dispatching centres of the Bulgarian gas transmission operator Bulgartransgaz EAD and the gas transmission operators along the gas route from Russia to Bulgaria. There is no change in the physical flow and pressure at the inlet points in the country.

To secure the gas supplies to Bulgaria a number of measures are followed enabling the timely actions and satisfaction of the needs of the customers in the country.

355 mcm of natural gas are available in Chiren UGS to date and gas is continuously injected in the storage facility today as well provided the dynamic situation in Ukraine.

Chiren UGS daily deliverability under current levels of active gas is about 3,3 mcm/day thus ensuring about 65% of the daily consumption through this period of the year under the current meteorological conditions in the country. At these levels the production from Chiren UGS will secure the supplies for a minimum of 100 days.

In addition to production from the storage facility, local production is realised as well.

As of 1 January 2014 a technical opportunity for a transmission of 1 mcm/day up to 3 mcm/day of natural gas has been secured in the direction from Greece to Bulgaria depending on the opportunities of the Greek gas transmission network in compliance with the obligations under Regulation (ЕC) 994/2010.

The use of all these resources makes it possible to secure gas consumption in the country in the short-term without interruption in the supply to customers.

In case of a negative development of the situation and serious indications of supply cut-off to Bulgaria, all stakeholders and the public will be timely informed.
